The Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel rendered Rajesh Udhthandan ineligible for a period of 4 years

Bodybuilder Mr Rajesh Udhthandan was found guilty of consuming prohibited substances by National Anti-Doping Agency. His dope sample was collected by the Doping Control Officer of NADA during the 67th All India Police Wrestling Cluster Championship 2019 in Jaipur and his sample analysis revealed presence of Clenbuterol- Other Anabolic Agent Drostanolone Metabolite (2a-Methyl-5a Androstan-3a-ol-17-One), Androgenic Anabolic Steroid 3-OH-Stanozolol & 16b- OH- Stanozolol (Stanozolol Metabolite) Androgenic Anabolic Steroide Canrenone, Diuretic.

The athlete was issued a notice of charge dated 4th June 2019. The notice was accompanied by a mandatory provisional suspension, with effect from the date of notice, before Rajesh appeared in person for an oral hearing conducted on 20th January 2020.

Rajesh denied the intentional use of the substance; however, he was reminded by NADA in its submission that as per Article 2.1.1 of the rules, it was his personal duty to ensure no prohibited substance enters his body.

NADA further submitted that Rajesh failed to establish any grounds for elimination or reduction of the period of ineligibility set out under Article 10.4 and 10.5.

The Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, therefore, rendered Rajesh Udhthandan ineligible for a period of 4 years from his date of provisional suspension (4th June 2019) for the violation of Article 2.1 of Anti-Doping Rules, NADA 2015.

It was directed that under Rule 10.8 all other results obtained by the athlete from the date of sample collection shall be disqualified with all resulting consequences including forfeiture of medals, points and prizes.
